TOMAS TECH Signs Industry-Academia MoU with the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University

On Wednesday 7 October 2026, TOMAS TECH CO., LTD. (headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand; President and CEO: Ryo Nozaki) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on industry-academia cooperation with the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, covering the Faculty’s Bachelor of Engineering Program in Computer Engineering and Digital Technology (CEDT).

Under this agreement, TOMAS TECH will work alongside one of Thailand’s leading engineering faculties to develop the kind of digital talent that manufacturing and logistics sites in Thailand genuinely need.

About the CEDT Program

CEDT (Computer Engineering and Digital Technology) is a Bachelor of Engineering program offered by the Faculty of Engineering at Chulalongkorn University. It operates under Thailand’s Higher Education Sandbox, a regulatory framework that permits programs to be run outside the conventional higher-education standards. That flexibility is the program’s defining feature: the curriculum can be designed around the practical capabilities industry actually requires.

Within this framework, a company is not confined to hiring graduates at the end of the pipeline. It can take part from the curriculum design stage, bring real industrial problems in as teaching material, and participate in assessing students. Rather than the university and industry working in separate lanes, both sides turn the same development cycle together.

Scope of Cooperation

Under the MoU, TOMAS TECH will support the Faculty of Engineering principally in the following areas.

  • Capstone Project co-supervision: providing real problems from industrial sites as project themes, with TOMAS TECH engineers serving as co-advisors to support student development work.
  • Project assessment: TOMAS TECH staff will join evaluation panels for coursework projects and Capstone Projects within the curriculum.
  • Internships and cooperative education (Co-op): hosting students in live project work, with assigned staff acting as supervisors.
  • Teaching contributions: TOMAS TECH engineers will serve as special lecturers and guest speakers for courses within the curriculum.
  • Curriculum feedback: offering recommendations for improving the curriculum and teaching content in light of technology trends and shifts in industry requirements.
  • Departmental Job Fair: ongoing participation to maintain direct contact with students.

Background and Intent

Manufacturing and logistics companies in Thailand are adopting AI, IoT and automation at pace. Yet on site, the constraint we encounter day to day is rarely the technology itself. It is the shortage of people who can define a shop-floor problem correctly and translate it into a technical solution.

The number of people who can write code is rising. What remains scarce is the engineer who can observe what is actually happening on a production line, talk to the people who run it, judge where automation will pay off, and connect that work to existing equipment and core systems without creating contradictions. Across our work as a system integrator spanning IT, AI, OT and FA, this is precisely where we have created the most value for customers.

We believe there is real merit in bringing the know-how accumulated in that work to students while they are still studying. Smart logistics, equipment and process visualisation through IoT, production traceability, paperless shop-floor forms, applied generative AI, and conveyance automation — every one of these fields is judged by whether the solution actually runs within the constraints of a real site. Giving students the experience of a reality that does not follow the textbook has value both for Thai industry and for the students’ own careers.

At the same time, this is talent development for TOMAS TECH as well. Students who come to know our work through internships or Capstone Projects may become future colleagues. As a Japanese-affiliated company based in Thailand, we are honoured to take part in connecting Thai higher education with industry.

Next Steps

Under the MoU, TOMAS TECH will progressively begin providing Capstone Project themes, hosting students for internships and Co-op placements, and sending engineers to teach, from the 2026 academic year onward. We will report on progress through our website.

About TOMAS TECH

TOMAS TECH CO., LTD. is a system integrator based in Bangkok, Thailand, providing DX, AI and automation solutions to Japanese-affiliated manufacturing and logistics customers. Our mission is to maximise productivity at the *Genba* — the shop floor — through technology, and we maintain offices in Thailand, Vietnam and Japan.

We combine four areas — production management systems, AI, IoT and visualisation, and logistics and factory automation — supporting customers end to end from concept through design, development, implementation, operation and improvement. We operate in Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese and English in house, so local staff can take part in projects from the outset.
